AR Rahman’s first ever authorized biography titled 'AR Rahman: The Spirit of Music' will be launched on April 6.The book provides a fascinating insight into Rahman’s private life and his music.The book contains photographs from his personal archives as well as a gratis CD of music including 8 tracks composed by him. Renowned film historian, Nasreen Munni Kabir, who has also made over 80 documentaries on Indian cinema for Channel 4 TV, U.K, has written the book. Om Books International is going to launch the book and several dignitaries from film industry including Mani Rathnam and other celebrities are expected to grace the occasion.
Meanwhile, A R Rahman is in news today for another reason. Apparently, he is quite shocked that one of the tracks which he had composed for Slumdog Millionaire has been used for an ad of mango drink ‘Slice’ featuring Katrina Kaif without his permission.He usually has complete rights over the tunes and music he composes and everytime someone uses his tracks, he gets the royalty associated with the track.Since this track was used without his permission,he has asked his legal advisors to look into the issue.Currently, the legal team is in talks with T-Series, the audio label which has been accused of using the track without Rahman’s permission.
