MAA is broke. Gasp! - JustTollywood.com News
Movie Artistes Association may have the greatest star attraction so much so it can rake in crores in a night, as and when it wants to. Recently, it collected Rs. 6.75 cr. for the flood victims in the state and handed over it to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund with pride. It is learnt that plans for yet another star cricket match is on the anvil. It is not new for the Association to come up with plans to save the victims of floods and famine and its noble intentions are highly commendable.
However, it seems that MAA refuses the adage charity begins at home. At the recently held MAA Diary release function, it was said that the association did not have sufficient funds to take out the diary, which they do (with difficulty) every year. Why does the 'well-to-do' MAA not have the required finances to fund the publication of the Diary or, for that matter, to come to the rescue of its artistes, who need some financial help to sustain and feed themselves?
The industry that makes the maximum number of films at skyrocketing costs and whose heroes charge unimaginable amounts (not to mention about the remuneration paid to its imported heroines), has no funds to carry forward some of the important activities that a recognised industry has to. It is a pity that the moguls and leaders of the industry do not have the courage to show the conviction of a Tammireddy Bharadwaj in bettering the living standards of cine workers and poor artistes today, despite their immense political and economic clout.
That MAA does not have the finances to pay for the pensions of old artistes is a sad commentary on the deteriorating situation within the Telugu film industry.Next time if the industry members are hailed to the sky for garnering crores in an effort to help flood victims etc, they will do well do remember of the plight of men of their own tribe.
Boycotting entertainment : Is it justified? - JustTollywood.com News
The ongoing T-agitation has taken a toll on the Telugu industry. Already films like 'Arya2' and 'Saleem' have been boycotted in the Telangana region after Chiranjeevi and Mohan Babu came out in open for a United Andhra. The release of 'Adurs' has been put on hold, fearing backlash in the region. Freshly, KCR, the leader of TRS, told the media that artistes and filmmakers from the region are capable of churning out entertainment themselves and that they will never watch 'their' films.
Though the political turmoil should have nothing to do with films, the Statehood politics is steadily making its way into the realm of cinema. In this context, how justified is it to boycott entertainers and their output, on any pretext? Should Telanganites be entertained only by those born in the region? That the people of the region have patronized Telugu films since decades is indisputable. Dividing them on regional basis smacks of parochialism, is what many in the Hyderabad film industry opine. Does not the mammoth and super-rich Tollywood industry feed thousands of cine workers many of whom hail from the Telangana?
Are we Indians not entertained by Pakistani musicians and singers? Should we boycott them on the pretext that the country they hail from the country that abets terror in India? Is politicization of entertainment justified?

Mamta says no to SRK - JustTollywood.com News
Mamta Mohandas of ‘Sivapathikaram’ and ‘Guru En Aalu’ has done what most heroines would not even dream. She refused a Hindi film opposite Shahrukh Khan. Celebrated Farah Khan had offered her new movie titled ‘Happy New Year’ pairing SRK. But Mamta politely refused the offer.
Though the reason is not known it may be that she doesn’t want to play the usual heroine in a super star and get lost in the debut film. Remember Asin in London Dreams?Anyway Mamta is busy with 'Kedi',‘Nira Kazhcha’ in Tamil and ‘Anwar’ in Malayalam.
