Saroja Devi bags NTR National Film Award - JustTollywood.com News



The NTR National Film Award for the year 2009, instituted by the government of Andhra Pradesh goes to veteran actor B. Saroja Devi. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh, a memento and a citation. Born in Karnataka, B Saroja Devi went on to act in over 170 Telugu, Tamil and Kannada films.She starred alongside the late N.T. Rama Rao for the first time in Panduranga Mahatyam, under the direction of K. Komeswara Rao.

The popular star made her debut in the Kannada film Mahakavi Kalidasa in 1955 and won the National award for her role in the Kannada film Kitturani Chennamma.Noted producer K. Raghava, director K. Raghavendra Rao and Ch Ramoji Rao of Ramoji Film City have been selected for the Raghupathi Venkaiah Film Award, B.N. Reddy National Film Award and the Nagireddy Chakrapani National Film Award respectively.

A four-member committee headed by Mr G. Adiseshagiri Rao and comprising Mr K.C. Sekhar Babu, Mr Giribabu and the director, Mr N. Shankar, selected the winners.Mr Adiseshagiri Rao and Andhra Pradesh State Film Television and Theatre Development corporation MD, Mr Parthasarathi, along with other members, submitted the list of awardees to the Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, on Monday afternoon.
