On Sunday morning, Tamil activists disputed outside Kamal Haasan’s office at Alwarpet in Chennai. They demanded Kamal to resign from the South president post of entertainment category of Federation of Indian Commerce and Industry (FICCI). They also demanded him to return the prestigious Padma Shri back to the Central Government. They said that FICCI is one of the sponsors of IFFA awards to be held in Colombo in June.
On clearing the news about this, Kamal stated “Office bearers of FICCI will not participate in IIFA awards in Colombo and nothing would be achieved by surrendering the Padma award.” On the other hand, Tamil actors and directors have decided not to attend the IIFA awards event in Colombo and even Maniratnam has decided not to screen his ‘Raavan’ at that event.
