Leader Movie Review (Rating: 7.5/10) - JustTollywood.com News

Rating: 7.5/10

The audience already know that Sekhar Kammula in his latest presentation "Leader" has thread the road not taken. This road taken by him should really be commended. he succeeded to a certain extent. Though Sekhar Kammula changed his gear, he did not leave the village backdrop completely.

Rana (Movie Moghul's grandson ) is introduced in the best possible manner. The characterisation of Dr.Arjun Prasad suited him well. His body language & presentation were apt. He did a decent job for a newcomer. The heroine Richa Gangopadhyay is also good. Her dubtriup was done in a commendable way. The other heroine Priya Anandh was just ok. She had an abrupt entry and exit.(otherwise everything else was ok)

Leader is a cinema which should be watched for its presentation. The director never deviated from what he wanted to say. The three hour movie is a decent one, though is the second half there is a small drag due to the love angle of the hero & heroin.

Harshavardhan, as Ali, assistant to the hero did one of the best roles in his career. He did justice. Subba Raju as Dhanunjay, having negative shades is good. Rao Ramesh is good as the maternal uncle of hero with a negative trait. Ahuti Prasad is good as the opposition leader. Kota is as usual fine, he played his age as the elder one. Gollapudi has a brief appearance which will be noticed for the dialogues between him & hero. Suman as the hero father had no big role. Suhasini, as always, is good. She Played the role of hero's mother with finesse. She carried herself well throughout. Tanikella Bharani is fine as the chief secretary.
Story:

Leader is the story of a protagonist who is the son of a corrupt CM. ( corrupt due to circumstances). It tells us how a politician can turn into a leader. It has shades of 'gentlmen' Shankar is narration in parts. The difference is that shankar's presentation has dance and action where as here.It is a straight one.
Technical Aspects:
Direction is good.Songs were apt for the film(Theatre Viewing). The background score is good. The inclusion of the tune of national anthem in the score should be appreciated. Editing by Marthand K Venkatesh is good. AVM'S production values are fine.
Scenes-Liked:
  1. Hero showing the way to Dhanunjay and his maternal uncle.
  2. Hero along with his mother visiting kota late in the right and expressing their wish.
  3. Assembly scenes,hero arriving first
  4. The initial aversion of the labour when hero visits his village and the acceptance towards the climax by the same
  5. The Hero squatting and pleading the tribal in his office.
  6. Ali Wishing Lord Ganesha.
Dialogues-liked:
  1. Hero's mother telling " Ninnu leader ga choodalani anukunna rajakeeya nayakudi ga kaadu"
  2. Hero to Gollapudi " Ee chetulato gandhi garini takuntaaru,Aa kallatho nehru garini choosaru, innellu, anta anubhavam. inkenduko; sampadana meeru naaku nacchala".
Conclusion:
The movie should be watched for having a thought to be provoked.

These days, it is commonplace to see films getting sold for a bomb. We have seen reports which indicate that the trend is fast catching up in India, especially the South, where it has been almost absent in the past.
Crazy projects, which have high expectations around them, are being bought by budding production houses for a huge amount. If Rajinikanth-starrer Robo has reportedly been sold, along with its overseas rights, in Andhra Pradesh, Komaram Puli, Leader and Varudu have already been bought by Geetha Arts.
While the Pawan Kalyan and Allu Arjun-starrers have been bought for Rs. 60 cr., both from Singanamala Naidu and DVV Danaiah, Leader has been bought for an undisclosed amount from its original producers AVM.
In Hindi, Hrithik Roshan's Kites has already fetched its producer Rakesh Roshan a whopping Rs. 150 cr. It seems that the trend is catching up in India and even down the South.
