Gunasekhar making over Allu Arjun as Varudu - JustTollywood.com News

Though in next film Arya2, Allu Arjun will be seen in ultra-stylish look, in his Varudu we guess his looks will not be quite modern. The reason is because, the film is directed by Gunasekhar, the maker of blockbusters like Choodalani Undi and Okkadu.
His last film Sainikudu, released more than two years ago, failed miserably at the BO and since then the reticent director has not had a single release. Understandably working with a vengeance, Varudu is said to be a script that has an amazing subject.
Currently, the film's unit, including the hero, is in Alappuzha, a Kerala town known for its scenic beauty. As someone who has the habit of holding something new every time, Guna has roped in Arya, Tamil hero of hits like Pattiyal and Arinthum Ariyaalum, to do a villainous role. Suhasini, Naresh, Asish Vidhyarthi, Sayaji Shinde and Brahmanandam are the other cast.
The film will see plenty of action and emotions, according to the producers of Universal Media (D V V Danayya).

Gamyam, Vinayakudu and Parugu get Nandi recognition - JustTollywood.com News

The Government of Andhra Pradesh-sponsored Nandi Awards have been declared for the year 2008. Gamyam (directed by Radha Krishna a.k.a. Krish) and Vinayakudu (directed by Sai Kiran Adivi) have bagged the awards for Best Film and second Best Film respectively. With awards going to these two films that were made on a shoestring budget, small filmmakers in the industry must be upbeat.
Gamyam that starred Allari Naresh and Sharwanand in lead roles, was a tale of self-discovery where the rich guy Sharwanand gets to know of the real world outside and gets transformation.A film that sensitively portrayed the emotional journey of one lead when he trudges villages and highways in search of his love life, Gamyam was heart-rending when audience saw Naresh dying in the end.
On the other hand, Vinayakudu is a simple love story based in Cyberabad. Produced by Saritha Patra, the Krishnudu-starrer (who will next be seen in Village Lo Vinayakudu, wrongly touted as a sequel) was a romantic comedy that fared decently at the box-office.The hero here is a fat man who loves a girl but the heroine does not reciprocate until she is attracted to his inner personality one fine day.
As two of films made with distinct subjects get the covetous Nandi, it's a milestone Tollywood will savour for long. However, the biggest surprise was 'Parugu' which has been adjudged third Best Film. The film, directed by Bommarillu Bhaskar had Allu Arjun and Sheela playing the leads, was said to have many scenes that seemed to be a rip off of real life situations in Chiranjeevi's family.
Though it was an average film at the BO and does not boast of much entertainment values either, jurists felt it deserved a Nandi. Well, what can one say at the decision of the eminent panel?

A dream that has remained unfulfilled for Rahman - JustTollywood.com News

AR. Rahman has accomplished a lot as a musician in his 17-year career thus far but he has one dream unfulfilled. “I am a great fan of ace director K. Viswanath and wanted to work with him. Since he has stopped making films, my dream could not materialise, Rahman said when asked about his unfulfilled dream. Rahman was in Hyderabad on October 12 to attend a function and also announce his live concert slated for October 24 at the GMR Arena. Viswanath is known for making classics like Sankarabharanam, Sagar Sangamam, Swatimutyam (Easwar in Hindi) and Swarnakamalam that glorified Indian art forms and traditions.Sankarabharanam, the story of a classical musician, won many national awards for the music score composed by the legendary K. V. Mahadevan.
Rahman wanted to compose music on the lines of Sankarabharanam and wanted Viswanath to make yet another film on Indian classical music. Viswanath, however, turned down the proposal saying there were no takers for his kind of films anymore. “That was eight years ago and the project never materialised. Since, then I have moved to other things” Rahman told reporters.
Would he still like to do a classical music score? “Hopefully so”, Rahman replied. Being a composer, singer and performer, which role was he comfortable in, Rahman was asked. “It’s the uncomfortableness in you that helps do things better. The more discomforted you are, the more you push yourself,” he replied.
The Oscar-winner has just completed music production for a romantic comedy Couples Retreat in Hollywood. He is working on Vinnaithandi Varuvaya in Tamil and Puli and another untitled film (starring Naga Chaitanya) in Telugu.

Magadheera to slug it out with Vijay and Ajith's films this Pongal - JustTollywood.com News

The Rajamouli - directed Magadheera, which created a history in Box-Office collections in Telugu, will see its Tamil version release very soon. After news came that some portions in the first half will be re shot with Tej and a Kollywood comedian, its materialization seemed all the more true.
The film has not even reached the 100-day mark in Telugu, but plans for a dubbed version have seen good progress in recent days. Though we have to wait and watch how the film will fare in Tamil Nadu, Ram Charan Tej must be having his fingers crossed over the project. Made on a mammoth budget by Geetha Arts, the film helped Charan to catapult himself to starry orbit. It has been a long time since we last heard a Telugu hero eager to make a mark with a new audience, and Charan has to be appreciated for the audacity he is showing though the young actor is just two films old.
Discerning that Tamil audience are, Charan stands a good chance to be accepted there with this love story with histrionically backdrop, because action-based films are enjoying good currency there. Moreover, the kind of lavishness and grandeur Magadheera boasts of is something no Tamil film has had in the past. The challenge the producers are certain to face is that of bringing nativity in script and screenplay.
If only the film gets acceptance in Tamil Nadu, the Hindi remake will get a great fillip. But the film is going to face competition from two big releases when it finally releases on Pongal day. One is Ajith-starrer Asal and a Vijay film. One wishes Charan all success!
