The Producers' Sectors Council will submit its recommendations regarding the exhibition of and other issues relating to dubbed movies in a meet to be held at the Film Chambers office in Hyderabad, on Nov. 30. It is known that they have been mooting a set of radical proposals to rein in the dubbed movies.
Here are some of the proposals.
- Dubbed films shall not be released in more than 85 theaters.
- Preference should be given to exhibiting Telugu films (in case of a conflict of interest) over dubbed movies;
- Small films should be exhibited on festivals and theaters must be allotted to them like-wise;
- Tax on dubbed films should be hiked so that it is on a par with the prevailing entertainment tax rates in Tamil Nadu;
- The industry must seek the government to introduce a slab system for ticket prices (to fall between Rs. 35-100).
This proposal is meant for the advantage of the producers of small films.These and other such demands have been proposed by the Council, which is headed by Natti Kumar.
